RSI Is Not the Final Verdict
By Walid Mograbi · · 1 min read
A single RSI reading is not enough if the broader price move does not support it.
Core idea
The RSI measures momentum. By itself, it does not decide the trend or the timing of a trade.
What the indicator can and cannot do
RSI can show whether momentum is strong or weak, but it does not confirm direction on its own.
Common mistake
A reading above 70 or below 30 can persist for a long time when the move is strong. That is why a single number can be misleading.
How to use it better
RSI becomes clearer when you read it with the overall trend or with another confirmation tool.
Warning
Relying on one indicator only increases the chance of false signals. That can lead to entering a trade and then finding that price continues in the same direction.
Quick checklist before trusting RSI
- Is the overall trend clear?
- Is there a second confirmation signal?
- Does the reading make sense in context, not just as a number?
